The rotation period distribution in the young open cluster NGC 6709

Open clusters serve as a useful tool for calibrating models of the relationship between mass, rotation, and age stars with an outer convection zone due to homogeneity within cluster. Cluster cluster comparisons are essential determine whether universality spin down relations holds. NGC 6709 is selected young open which no rotation periods members have previously been obtained. This at distance over 1 kpc has two red giant members. Isochrones place around 150 Myr, or approximately same Pleiades. Photometry obtained multi-month observing season robotic observatory STELLA. After basic processing, PSF photometry was derived using Daophot II, suite related software allowed us create time series relative magnitude changes each star. Four analysis methods then applied these light curves obtain stars. We first 45 FGK 6709. compare our Gaia EDR3 colors find slow-rotating sequence increasing towards redder smaller clump rapid rotators that not yet joined this sequence. very similar another Pleiades-age cluster, 2516.
